June 3rd, 2009

Hi to all Fisher friends, Sorry I have been a bit slack lately an have missed a couple of months as I have been checking the fishing spots out in another Country, It was Ukraine the City was called Donetsk where I went;  The river there was Larger than the Murry river, But from what I found out it was fished out an mainly Carp could be caught, So guys we are really lucky here In Australia;  Cod/ Yellow’s/ Catfish/ Redfine, What more could we want for!!!!!!!

Cheers for now

Fishing around the big trees

March 10th, 2009

Hi to all Fisher friends;

I hope you all had a good long weekend’s Fishing;

The murray was running flat out an also the Edward river, This would have turned the fish off the bite, I hope there was a good reason for so much water to be let down these river’s when all our little rivers an creeks are let to dry out!!!!!!

I would be very careful of where you camp as there are a lot of tree’s dropping big limbs which could crush a whole camp site; SO Don’t be in that camp site;

Cheers for now

Take care

Fishing In The Heat

February 7th, 2009

Hi to all fishing friends;

It’s very hot out along the rivers at this time a year, Use plenty of sun screen to protect yourselfs’

Fishing has been up an down the past couple of months, But the keen fishermen have been getting their fair share; It is hard to except the fact that some of our smaller streams have been let go to dryout to the extent that there has been thousands of fish  died; Some of these fish would have taken a 100 years to reach to the size they were; Maybe with a little more care taken this may not have happened???????

Cheers for now

Fishing with very little water

October 25th, 2008

Hi to all fisher friends;

All our fishing waters in Swan Hill an surrounding district are still very low; But those fishering the holes are doing quite well with lures an bait fishing, There are some very big yellows being caught even in some of the streams that had stopped running!!, It was good to see that there had been fresh water let down most of our streams in the surrounding district, Lets hope we have better season in front of us, Like about 5 years of Wet seasons to help all concerned in this mighty part of the world !!!!

Cheers for now

Log Leaper Collectable Series

August 22nd, 2008

Hi All,

Due to popular request, Log Leaper have brought out a signed Collectable Series. The first batch contains a set of 8 unique Log Leaper Cod Lures each of which has been handmade and signed by Fred Zass. The lures are our regular cod lures, but have a high gloss lacquer and a more even finish. There are two once-off signed regular lures that we did for a client a while back, but apart from that, getting one of these lures would mean getting one of the first signed Log Leaper Cod Lures. Who knows that might even be worth something one day.

As an added bonus, each lure has its own unique name and dedicated website. The names are a bit tongue in cheek ( I got the idea from the Stradivarius Violins, apparently each violin has its own unique name), but I have tried to link the names up to endangered Australian fish. A token gesture maybe, but a gesture nonetheless. And yes, I am aware of the irony of a fishing lure manufacturer attempting to raise awareness about fish which are under threat :)

Anyway have a look at the new lures and let us know what you think of the idea.

Fishing at low water levels

August 20th, 2008

Hi to all you fisher men & ladies,

Fishing our waters here, “Swan Hill area” most fishing is being done from the bank, with great success.

Most of our streams are dried up but for some holes; there are quite good Yellows An Cod are being lured in this type of fishing;

If they are not caught and eaten they are going to die any way; What a Waste;

Cheers to all My fisher Friends

Fred.

Fishing at the moment

June 29th, 2008

Hi to all fisher men & ladies

The River water levels here in Victoria an over the river into NSW are very low at the moment, But there are still a lot Cod & Yellows being caught in the deeper holes, lurer around the logs on down stream side of logs, you will be surprised of the results, the Edward River is fishing well around Moulamien, Plenty of beds at the caravan park there, Good luck to all fishermen & fisherladies.

Cheers for now

Fred

Its all a bit of a Flog (Freds Blog)

May 19th, 2008

Welcome to my Blog. I’m going to try to put up a post once a fortnight. I’ll be blogging about various topics that a typical lure manufacturer (if such a thing exists) encounters. Basically I’ll just be talking about my latest fishing trips, new innovations to my lures, and various other bits and pieces.
